Depending on which type of online home based business you choose you will need certain things to start your online business. There are some standards that almost all internet-based ventures will require:
Computer and Connection
If you are reading this blog than you already have a connection and hardware. You may want to try to upgrade to a high speed connection if you have that option, if not what you have will work fine also.
Your Own Website
No matter what type of online home based business you start, you will want a website to showcase your products, services or information. You can create your own site or join an afilliate based marketing program that will set-up your own personalized website with affiliate programs in place. The program that I use and highly recommend is the Plug-In-Profit Site.
Website Hosting
This is where your website will be on the internet. Your hosting account will be a specific amount of space for your files (web pages, images, scripts, etc) and will generally include email addresses as well. As I mentioned above the Plug-In-Profit Site also has its own hosting service which is Host4Profit.
FTP Program
FTP means File Transfer Protocol and is how you move your files from your computer to your hosting account. You can also download files from your hosting account to your computer. I found that Host4Profit does this very smoothly and is very easy to use with your home based business.
Email Client
You will need an email client in order to set up your “pop email accounts” that come with your hosting service. This will allow you to send and receive email using an address like yourname@yoursite.
You may also need help, a how-to guide or perhaps even a mentor so that you can make practical decisions and wise choices while setting up and marketing your home based business.
