The first thing you must consider when it comes to starting an online business opportunity is doing research on the niche that you want to get into.
You don’t want to get involved in a niche that has no demand or very little demand or a niche where the competition is so overwhelming that there is no way you can break into the marketplace.
The first, and the most important step of researching a niche is actually choosing one. The best way to pick out a niche is to sit down and make a list of your hobbies, interests and skills.
You might as well start with something that you enjoy doing if you’re going to do it at all. Otherwise, you could be spending the rest of your life making money at something that you absolutely hate.
Your next step is finding out how many people are searching for this niche on a monthly basis. There is no point in getting into something if there is no traffic to be had. There are many good keyword tools that you can use to do this but you can use Wordtracker, which you can find at:

Without proper keyword research, you have very little chance to start a business that is going to be profitable in the long run.
After you do your keyword research, the next step to look at the search engines to see how many competing sites there are for that niche.
After comparing the keyword searches to the competing sites numbers, you can then determine if this niche is going to be profitable enough to get into your own online business opportunity.

If you are a beginner and you find a good niche market, it gives you a head start because the “keywords” virtually create themselves. For example, when I started out selling “Japanese mahjong sets” on the Internet, I didn’t even know what keywords were, but the phrase “Japanese mahjong sets” naturally occurred in my blogs and on my website and was picked up by the search engines.
When I started out, I wasn’t sure I would sell even one set… I must have packed and posted hundreds of them by now!
All because I happened upon a nice little niche!
BTW, that’s a good tip about the free wordtracker tool. Very useful.
